Direct School Admission Exercise
Parents and students are encouraged to choose schools wisely based on the student’s aptitudes and strengths, bearing in mind the schools’ academic and non-academic requirements, and the programmes available to develop the area of talent.
Important Information
- Application for DSA-Sec must be submitted through the online DSA Sec Portal. The application starts on 7 May (11 am) and ends on 03 Jun 2024 (3 pm). No fee will be charged for the application. For more details, please refer to MOE website – moe.gov.sg/dsa-sec.
- Nan Chiau High School is a MOE Special Assistance Plan (SAP) school. All students enrolled will read Higher Chinese Language.
- Students successfully allocated to their DSA-Sec schools will NOT be allowed to participate in the annual S1 Posting Exercise to opt for secondary schools, and they are expected to honour the commitment to the allocated DSA-Sec school for the entire duration of the programme.
- They will also NOT be allowed to transfer to another school after the release of the PSLE results.
- Meeting all the criteria does not guarantee the applicant will be shortlisted/given an offer.
NCHS DSA Exercise
NCHS is looking for promising Primary 6 students who demonstrate talent and ability in Art, Bilingualism, Chinese Orchestra, Chinese Dance (girls), Basketball, Wushu and Table-Tennis. Successful applicants will join NCHS in January 2025.
Generally, students should have:
- High level of motivation and commitment to the talent areas, and in other academic and co-curricular programmes offered by the school;
- High level achievement and mastery in their chosen talent areas
- Intellectual potential and ability to cope with the rigorous syllabus
All students will read Higher Chinese Language (HCL) when they join NCHS from sec 1 as NCHS is a Special Assistance Plan school.

DSA Visual Arts

Prospective students who are enrolled via DSA Visual Arts will have Visual Arts Club as their CCA. They will be offered Enhanced Art Programme at Upper Sec, taking Art as an O-Level subject.

DSA Bilingualism

Prospective students who are enrolled via DSA-Bilingualism will be groomed in the areas of bilingualism and biculturalism. They will be given opportunities to participate in various language and cultural-related programmes, such as external seminars, workshops, competitions, learning journeys, docent training. They will also help to organise bicultural activities in the school.
In addition, DSA-Bilingualism students will have to take the Chinese Language Elective Programme – Secondary (CLEP-Sec) in Secondary 3 (i.e. they will have to take Chinese Literature, either as a full or elective subject.)
